What Is SKYACTIV Technology?

SKYACTIV technology has been synonymous with new Mazda vehicles since 2012. Introduced on various models over the years, SKYACTIV is now available on all new Mazda vehicles.
But what exactly is SKYACTIV? It is a set of modifications to the engine, transmission, chassis, body and torque management system of the vehicle to achieve a perfect symbiosis between the components, but also better performance combined with reduced fuel consumption.
With SKYACTIV, we get all the driving pleasure that makes new Mazda vehicles so appealing, as well as the efficiency and fuel economy that consumers want from their vehicles. Let's take a closer look.
Several SKYACTIV Engines Available to Consumers
There is a diverse range of SKYACTIV engines, but the most common are the 2.0-litre and 2.5-litre SKYACTIV-G engines. These are found in several new models including Mazda CX-5, Mazda3 and Mazda6. There is also a powerful SKYACTIV 2.5-litre turbo engine that we find in the Mazda6, Mazda CX-5 and Mazda CX-9 which develops 250 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque.
Regardless of the SKYACTIV engine, you have under the hood of your Mazda, you find the same science behind the design. By increasing the compression ratio, improving airflow and ensuring that all engine components are optimized, more energy can be extracted from each drop of gasoline.
In doing so, we get the performance we want while achieving better efficiency and lower fuel consumption.
SKYACTIV also includes optimized gearboxes that provide better performance by being lighter and more compact as well as the G-Vectoring feature offered on the Mazda3 and Mazda CX-5, among others.
With G-Vectoring Control, engine torque is used to stabilize the vehicle in the city and on the highway, providing greater comfort and confidence for the driver.
